About Tej Kohli Foundation
Founded in the year 2005 by Mr. Tej Kohli – an entrepreneur and a philanthropist with multiple
interests across the globe, the foundation is assisting a Corneal Transplant Program in India, funded entirely by Mr. Kohli.
Apart from corneal transplant, Tej Kohli Foundation is also committed to raise awareness on eye donation and in eradicating corneal blindness in India. To achieve this aim, the foundation has joined hands with the Gurgaon based Niramaya Charitable Trust, a grassroots level NGO for eye donation and the Ahooja Eye Hospital.
Together as a team, the Foundation has successfully performed more than 150 corneal transplant surgeries over the last one year – covering the full cost of all the surgeries being carried out under the program. This is at no cost to the patients.
In addition, the Foundation organizes a number of unique events each year to encourage the masses and spread awareness on eye donation. Included in their list of successful events are Walk for Vision in 2010 ( listed in Limca Book of Records for being the largest blindfolded walk for a social cause ever), and Run for Vision in 2011. And in September the Foundation is expected to put another feather in their cap with the launch of Gurgaon Carnival.
